I’ve been called a nerd in the past for not fitting in. I decided to change that one day when I decided to start playing electronic drums. I had no idea about how to make music. I’ve had no training. I simply wanted to make some cool beats on electronic drum sets and in the process impress a girl or two.

I got my first starter set when I bought the cheapest electronic drum set that I could find on ebay. I basically got ripped off because I didn’t know the difference between a good drum set and crappy drum sets. I went to a local music store and got an electronic drum pad and drum sticks so I could practice making some noise. Although I was only tapping on rubber, it allowed me to feel legit by pretending that I had a top notch yamaha electronic drum set.

I saved my money throughout my junior year and eventually got enough to get the yamaha electronic drum set. At that point, I had already spent about a year researching electronic drum prices, electronic drum reviews and ratings and doing my own price comparisons. This drumset was far from an impulse buy. I wanted the best electronic drum set for the money and to this date I’ve continued to be happy with my yamaha drums.

Since I had a tabletop electronic drum set, I would take it into the lounge outside the cafeteria and I started playing my drums (after practicing by myself for about a month). I started making some basic beats and rappers would occasionally join me. Before I knew it, girls started coming up to me and talking to me…

I started getting invited to parties and was even booked to take my electronic drum set up at a small private party with some really cool friends that I had met just by playing drums outside the cafeteria. The funny part about all of this was that I was extremely shy before getting my portable electronic drum set. It just magically made me come out of my shell!
