I’m just looking for something cheap to learn and I don’t want to spend 500 bucks to do so.

You could learn drums by banging on a trash can lid and an empty cardboard box.

But if you wanna be good, it helps if you are also stark raving mad.

  2. Sean says:

You could even use stuff around the house.

Hey, I tought myself how to play drums an I don’t even own a kit. If it makes the right sound for each drum, then yes you can. It’s all about knowing the beats and getting your movement right.

And I do play the drums for my band sometimes, though I’m the guitarist. So I’m legit.

Absolutely! I learned on a snare, and 4 other snares drums all tuned differently on cheap stands. I’ve now been playing for 30 years.
Jeff Pocarro learned on a single practice pad for a year, playing rudiments, Than bought a drum set. Dude, you can learn on tupper-ware if you wanted to.

My advice. Buy a used 5 piece acoustic set off of Craig’s list, (Snare, 2 mounted toms, 1 floor tom, single bass drum, high hat, one, or two cymbals), for a couple hundred bucks, and see if you really want to learn them or not! Drums take allot of dedication. Nothing more fun though!

    Rock on!
