Can electronic drumsets work with guitar amps?

I’m thinking of buying this drumset: http://www.ionaudio.com/ied01
It says it has an output for connecting other equipment. I’m new to drums, so what I’m wondering is would it work with connecting to a guitar amplifier if I want to record something out loud?

Most guitar amps are specifically designed to work with the frequencies related to electric guitars.

Your best bet would be to get a P/A system – JBL Eon powered P/A speakers or Mackie.

If you can’t afford those, check out some pawn shops and grab something – worst case, grab a big stereo amp and speakers.

As far as electronic drum kits – Roland is the only one that is worth two farts in a windstorm. They make some low end kits that are more that the one you are looking at, but their mesh heads are unbelievable, as are the quality of their sound. I would definitely suggest saving your money and buying one.

I pretty much stick to acoustic kits, but when you need a wide variety of drum sounds – or if you live in an apartment or have neighbors who complain a lot, they are awesome.

I’ve had a couple of jam sessions at a dude who plays a Roland kits house – we all plugged in guitars (and my moog synth), bass guitar, etc. and got all of the sound out of headphones (through a mixer). He lives in a crappy part of town, and doesn’t want to announce to the neighborhood that he has a bunch of expensive gear in his house – it wasn’t quite the same feel as a nice loud jam through amps, etc. – but it was definitely a lot of fun. It was much easier to mix the drums with the other instruments (which would make it ideal for small studio recording).

Good luck – and have fun!!!
